How does GameTrust work?

Three steps. You create missions — chores, homework, healthy habits — and set what each one is worth. Your kid completes a mission and marks it done. You approve it, and the points land in their wallet.

Then they spend those points on rewards you've chosen: earned gaming time, in-game currency like V-Bucks or Robux (through gift cards), or real-world treats. You control the catalog, the prices, and every approval. GameTrust is the system that turns "you did the thing" into "you get the thing."

Is this just another chore app?

No. Most chore apps pay in points your kid can't spend on anything they want. GameTrust pays in things they actually care about — gaming time, in-game currency, real gifts. You define the catalog, you set the prices, you approve every redemption. The points aren't the reward. What they buy is.

Question 3

Does GameTrust block or limit my child's device?

Accepted Answer

No — and that's deliberate. GameTrust doesn't install on your kid's device, block apps, or cut off the console. It's the agreement layer that decides how much gaming time is earned and tracks the deal you've made.

You handle the actual enforcement — either yourself, or with the screen-time controls you already use (Xbox Family Settings, Nintendo's app, Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link). I built GameTrust to change why your kid games — because they earned it — not to become one more thing they try to get around.

Which games and platforms does it work with?

Accepted Answer

All of them. Because GameTrust rewards earned gaming time and gift cards rather than plugging into one console's API, it doesn't matter what your kid plays — Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or PC.

You set up rewards for the games and platforms your family actually uses, and the reward store handles popular gift cards (Fortnite, Roblox, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and more).

How is GameTrust different from Joon or parental control apps?

Accepted Answer

Two different categories. Parental control apps (Qustodio, Bark, Google Family Link) exist to restrict — they block, filter, and set time limits. GameTrust does the opposite: it makes gaming something your kid earns through real effort, so the motivation comes from them.

Apps like Joon reward chores with a virtual pet or an in-app game — a substitute reward that tends to lose its novelty, and that many kids outgrow around age 12. GameTrust's reward is the real gaming time and games your kid already wants, which is why it keeps working for the 10–14 crowd. It's built to sit alongside your screen-time controls, not replace them.

How does it actually deliver gaming time or V-Bucks?

Three different ways, depending on the reward type:

• Gaming time — you enforce it on the device. GameTrust tells your kid "you've earned 30 min of Fortnite tonight" and tracks the agreement; you control whether the console actually turns on. I'm not a screen-time enforcement tool — I'm the agreement layer above it.

• In-game currency (V-Bucks, Robux) — redeem through approved gift-card vendors after your approval. The points come out of your kid's balance; the gift card lands in your inbox; you hand it over.

• Real-world gifts — you define them ("movie night," "pick the takeout"), the app tracks the points and the promise, you fulfill them.

I'm not a payments middleman for game purchases. I'm the system that turns "you did the thing" into "you get the thing."

Question 7

My kid is sneaky. What stops them from gaming the system?

You approve every mission completion and every redemption — they can't add points to their own balance or invent new rewards. For missions where the proof matters (homework, room cleaning), you can require a photo. For the small stuff (brush teeth, feed the dog), you can trust them on the honor system and only review if something feels off.

If you mess up and approve something you shouldn't have, you can reverse it. You're never locked into a bad call.

How old does my kid need to be?

GameTrust is built for kids 8–14. Younger kids can use it with more parent help. Older teens (15+) usually want to manage their own money and time directly — GameTrust still works for them, but it's less of a fit because the whole model assumes you're the one in charge of the gaming time and the wallet.

Do you have an app, or is it a website?

Both. There's a web app for parents at gametrust.work, and a native Android app for kids (parents can use the Android app too).

iOS is planned but I'm not committing to a date yet — I'd rather ship it right than ship it fast.

Question 10

What about my kid's data? They're a minor.

Accepted Answer

Children don't have email accounts or standalone logins in GameTrust. Kids sign in with a family PIN that you set, or an invite code I generate for you. Their data lives inside your family's record, accessible only by your authenticated parent account.

I don't sell data. I don't show ads. I don't share anything with game companies. Full privacy policy is linked in the footer.

Question 11

How much will it cost when you start charging?

I don't know yet. Probably a small monthly subscription for the full feature set, with a permanently free tier for basic use. I'll figure it out once I see how families actually use it.

What I do know: the first 50 families pay nothing, forever, regardless of where pricing lands. That's the deal. If you join the founding 50 and I later charge $9/month, you still pay $0. That's locked.
